Concept

Finite-state

Finite-state describes a system whose behavior is defined by a fixed, countable set of distinct states plus rules for moving between them. At any moment the system occupies exactly one state, and an input triggers a transition to another state (or back to the same one).

The rest of “Finite-state” is a premium feature: every concept in the library gets a precise, practitioner-focused write-up like this one, cross-linked straight from the paper summaries that use it.
